The Longest Trekking Route of Turkey
Carian Trail ise the longest trekking route -850 km- of Turkey covering Mugla and Aydin Provinces. Named after the Carian Civilisation which lived in this area during ancient ages, this trekking route passes through many villages with authentic architecture, unspoiled bays, hills covered with olive and almond trees, large and small antiques, some only accessible by walking.
This route with a length of 850 km is constituted of 4 main stages covering Bozburun and Datca Peninsulas, Gokova Bay and Inner-Caria and another stage covering Mugla Surroundings.
The stage of the route on the Datca Peninsula starts at Eski Datca and ends at Balikasiran.
The Carian Trail Route starts at Eski Datca heading soth and west passing many rough capes and bays to the antique city of Knidos and the Deveboynu Lighthouse situated at the most extreme point of the peninsula. Some of the Dodecanese Islands can clearly be seen from this point. The route heading to east, to the mailand follows the mostly inhabited northern side of the Datca Peninsula and ends at Balikasiran, the narrowest part of the peninsula.
